STAMFORD, CT – Chief Robert Morris is proud to announce two significant promotions that fill key vacancies on the executive staff of the Stamford Fire Department. The official appointments were celebrated during a swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday, July 8, at the Stamford Government Center, with the Honorable Mayor Caroline Simmons administering the oath of office. Both newly promoted leaders were joined by their families for the occasion.
Deputy Chief Victor Rella Promoted to Assistant Chief of Volunteers
Assistant Fire Chief Victor Rella, a lifelong Stamford resident, has been promoted to Assistant Chief of Volunteers, where he will oversee and support Stamford’s dedicated network of volunteer firefighters. Chief Rella brings a wealth of experience and an enduring commitment to public service. His fire service career began in 1986 as a volunteer with the Glenbrook Fire Department. He went on to serve as an EMT with the Stamford Ambulance Corps and later as a Paramedic with Stamford EMS.
Chief Rella’s professional firefighting career began in 1998 with the Town of Greenwich before he quickly transitioned to the Stamford Fire Department. Over the past two decades, he has served with distinction in various leadership roles, including Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief. Most recently, he led the department’s Training Division, where he was instrumental in enhancing firefighter training and professional development.
At the ceremony, Chief Rella was joined by his wife, Tina; their daughters, Eileen and Bridget; and his father-in-law, Cecil Hickey—all of whom proudly witnessed this milestone in his career. Though not in attendance, his sons Colin and Aidan were recognized as an important part of his journey and continued support system.
Deputy Fire Marshal Christopher Repp Promoted to Chief Fire Marshal
Deputy Fire Marshal Christopher Repp has been promoted to Chief Fire Marshal of the Stamford Fire Department. Chief Repp joined the department on July 19, 2002, and was promoted to Deputy Fire Marshal on March 28, 2018, when he joined the Fire Marshal’s Office. Since then, he has been a key figure in code enforcement, fire prevention, and investigation activities for the City of Stamford.
Before his career in Stamford, Chief Repp served as a volunteer firefighter in Westchester County, New York, from 1985 through 2019—a remarkable 34-year commitment to public service. As a volunteer, he was deeply engaged in civilian safety and emergency mitigation. “This is my way of giving back to the community,” Repp has said. His knowledge of building construction and utilities, combined with his steady dedication, helped ensure peak performance during emergency responses.
At the ceremony, Chief Repp was joined by his mother Corinne Repp; sister Stephanie Dellacamera and her husband Chris Dellacamera; and his daughters Jacquelynn and Kelly Repp—all of whom proudly witnessed this career milestone.
Chief Morris praised both appointees, stating:
“These promotions reflect the leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence that define our department. Chief Rella and Chief Repp have both dedicated their careers to protecting the people of Stamford, and I am proud to have them as part of our executive team.”
The Stamford Fire Department congratulates Assistant Chief Victor Rella and Chief Fire Marshal Christopher Repp on their well-earned promotions and wishes them continued success in their new roles.
