Stamford Fire Department along with a unit from Belltown Fire responded to Holcomb Avenue for a report of a structure fire. E-6 arrived on scene first due, confirmed the location and reported a working fire. E-6 crew stretched a 1 ¾ hose line to a 2nd floor apartment where they found a fire in the kitchen area. Additional units entered the structure and began a search for occupants, establish a back-up line and work on ventilation. One dog was located and removed from the building. Attempts to revive the animal were unsuccessful. The fire was knocked down quickly but required extensive overhaul to be sure the fire didn’t enter any void spaces. The incident was deemed under control in about 30 minutes. Red Cross responded to assist occupants with relocation. The Fire Marshal Division is conducting an investigation and there were no injuries to firefighters at this incident.
