At 10:09 PM on Sunday night, Stamford Fire Department responded to 200 Broad Street, Sofi Parc Grove, for multiple calls reporting smoke and fire.  Fire units from Central, Woodside, Shippan, and South End fire stations initially responded.  Upon arrival at 10:13 PM, SFD found a working fire on the balcony of a 4th floor apartment on the Forest Street side of the large, 4 story, wood frame, apartment building.  The Stamford Police Department was first on the scene and were evacuating the building as the FD arrived.   A second alarm was sounded bringing additional units from the West Side.  The main body of fire was knocked down at 10:23 PM and the fire was under control at 10:45 PM.  The fire was confined primarily to the balcony of the initial apartment with some damage to the balcony of the apartment below.   One female occupant with a dog and a cat escaped the fire apartment without injury. 

The Stamford Fire Department operated on scene with 5 Engines, 2 Tower Ladders, 1 Rescue, 2 Command vehicles and a total of 36 Firefighters plus 8 staff personnel.  Stamford EMS stood by on location.  Fire Units remained on scene until approximately 1:30 AM.  Other than the fire apartment, residents were allowed to re-occupy the rest of the building.  Stamford’s Fire Marshal Office is in the process of determining the cause and origin of the fire.
