Two years after Shippan fire, firefighters still focused on preventionStamford firefighters will never forget the Christmas morning fire that killed three young sisters and their grandparents two years ago, but some officials are worried fire safety has become a fading memory for many members of the community. Firefighters entered the burning building, but were pushed back by intense heat and flames and could not rescue Badger’s daughters and parents.
Captain Hayes is a 31-year veteran of the Stamford Fire Department. He is currently assigned to the East Side Fire Station #4 on Shippan Avenue. In addition to his regular Fire Officer duties, he is a Public Relations Officer, the developer of the StamfordFire.com website and serves on the Departments' IT Team. He is also an avid fan of Fire Department history.
