STAMFORD, CT – At 09:13, the Stamford 911 Center received a call from the front desk of the Red Carpet Inn, located at 1209 E. Main Street, reporting a fire in room 235.

Engine 6, responding from the Glenbrook firehouse, arrived first on the scene at 09:15 and reported heavy smoke showing from the rear of the second floor. Initial arriving fire companies located the fire in the ceiling of room 235, which had already extended into the roof area and was spreading rapidly. While room 235 was unoccupied at the time, firefighters quickly evacuated guests from adjacent second-floor rooms.

Due to the size of the structure and its high occupancy load, a second alarm was transmitted. Fire personnel stretched multiple hose lines into the building and performed vertical ventilation on the roof to isolate and extinguish the fire. The fire was officially placed under control at 09:49.

A total of 40 Stamford Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, including five engine companies, two ladder companies, one rescue company, two Deputy Chiefs, and support staff from the Administrative, Training, and Mechanical divisions.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. A total of six hotel rooms sustained fire, smoke, or water damage.

The Stamford Police Department and Stamford EMS provided critical fireground support by rerouting local traffic and providing emergency medical stand-by.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office.
