At 13:07 hrs Stamford and Long Ridge Fire Department firefighters responded to 88 Heming Way in North Stamford for a report of fire in the attic.  Long Ridge Fire Department Engine 71 was first on scene within 2 minutes and confirmed a working fire.  Crews immediately stretched a hose line to the 2nd floor and were able to locate and begin an attack at the fire above in the attic.  Additonal Stamford Fire units stretched a second hose line into the attic to stop the fire from spreading further.  The incident was declared under controll at 13:58 hrs.  There were no injuries.  On scene fire apparatus consisted of 5 Engine's, 1 Truck Company, 1 Rescue Company, 1 Rapid Intervention Team, 1 Medic standby, and 2 Deputy Chiefs (44 firefighters in total).  Extensive overhaul was needed to find remaining hot spots within the home.  Due to the location and extent of the fire, the house sustained significant damage.  The incident was turned back over to the homeowners at 16:00hrs.  The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
