Active Member Cancer Death Notification
It is with profound sadness and deep respect that the Stamford Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Herman Naring, an active member of our department, who courageously battled cancer. Firefighter Naring passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Firefighter Naring faithfully served the City of Stamford for over 41 years, beginning as a volunteer firefighter in 1984 and transitioning to a career firefighter in 2003. Firefighter Naring demonstrated unwavering commitment, professionalism, and compassion to the department and the city.
The Stamford Fire Department extends our heartfelt condolences to the Naring family, friends, and his colleagues. We share in their grief and stand together as one united fire service family during this difficult time.

**The department requests that no outside apparatus be brought to the wake or funeral.**
Additional information regarding parking for the wake and funeral will be provided in a follow-up notice from the Stamford Fire Department.
