At approximately 7:15 pm the Stamford 911 Dispatch received multiple calls reporting a commercial structure located at 301 West Main St was on fire. Firefighters from Stamford's West Side Fire Station were first on scene confirming the structure was on fire, with heavy smoke visible coming from all areas of the building. Hose lines were immediately deployed, as crews searched for the source of the smoke in the very large building. After several minutes it was determined that the fire was in the basement of the structure.

A second alarm was requested bringing additional  firefighters to help with the extinguishment.

The fire was declared under control just before 8pm.

Crews remained on scene to search and extinguish any hidden fire, and to ventilate the very large structure.

The building received heavy fire damage to the basement area along with heavy smoke damage throughout the structure.

All occupants vacated the building prior to fire department arrival.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
