Firefighters Quickly Contain Fast-Moving Garage Fire

RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE IN BELLTOWN

STAMFORD, CT (March 31, 2023) – At 7:05 PM, Stamford and Belltown firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 26 Pershing Avenue in Stamford.

First-arriving fire units from the Belltown Fire Department arrived at the scene and found a well-involved fire rapidly extending from an attached garage at the residence. 

Firefighters made an immediate attack on a fire involving the garage and attic areas of the residence.

The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes of the initial arrival. Firefighters remained on scene for an additional two hours performing overhaul and salvage duties.

A total of 4 Engine Companies, 1 Truck Company, 1 Heavy Rescue Company, the Shift Commander, and several volunteer units from the Belltown Fire Department operated at the scene with a total of 30 career and 15 volunteer personnel.

One occupant of the residence was transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS for a minor injury.

There were no injuries to firefighters.

Additional scene support was provided by the Stamford Emergency Medical Services, Darien Emergency Medical Services, the Stamford Fire Department Mechanical Division, and the Stamford Police Department.

The Stamford Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
