The Stamford 911 center received a report of a building on fire at 11:41 pm last night with an additional report of a possible trapped occupant inside. First arriving apparatus from the City's Westside Station reported heavy smoke coming from the front of a multi-family apartment building upon arrival.Upon entry, heavy fire was encountered in the first floor apartment.

Hoselines were deployed and the fire was rapidly extinguished, while simultaneously, the entire building was searched for occupants. The fire was rapidly brought under control, and no occupants were located inside.

The fire resulted in heavy fire damage to the first floor apartment, along with smoke and water damage throughout the remainder of the building.

9 Displaced occupants were provided housing by the Red Cross

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
