Stamford firefighters responded to the area of 257 Ocean Dr West this morning, for a report of an overturned kayaker in the water.  Apparatus from fire headquarters, the dive team from Woodside Station, and the marine unit located in Shippan, all responded to the call. 

While enroute, further information was received that an unconscious victim had been removed from the water. Upon arriving on scene, bystander CPR was being performed.  Arriving fire and EMS units provided care to the patient. The patient was transported by EMS to Stamford Hospital. The patients condition is unknown at this time

The marine unit made several sweeps of the shoreline to assure that more victims weren't present, none were found.

The cause of the incident is under investigation by Stamford PD.
