At 9:52 am the Stamford Fire Dept. responded to a reported fire at 16 Greenwood Hill St. The first arriving engine reported heavy fire from the second floor of a multi-family residence. The fire had also advanced to the third floor, and attic space of the building as well.

Fire units performed a rapid search for any remaining occupants, while hoselines were being advanced for extinguishment. 

The fire was declared under control approximately 30 minutes later. Fire units continued locating and extinguishing hidden fire for approx 1 hour after the main body of fire was extinguished.

3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 heavy rescue, 1 rapid intervention team, and 1 command unit staffed by 26 firefighters responded to the scene, as well as Stamford Police and Stamford EMS.

The Red Cross responded and is assisting in re-location of displaced occupants.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation.
