Stamford, CT – Stamford fire, police, and EMS were dispatched at 23:25 pm Saturday night for a report of a boater unaccounted for in Stamford Harbor. The boat’s occupants noticed the boater was missing sometime after entering Stamford Harbor, having traveled from New York.

Stamford emergency services initiated both a shore-based and open water search effort. Mutual aid resources were requested from the U.S. Coast Guard, Greenwich PD, and Darien PD.

Stamford fire department’s Engine 1 crew noticed a reflective object in the water off the public dock located behind John Boccuzzi Park off Southfield Ave. Engine 1 directed the Stamford fire boat to the object of interest, and located the missing boater at 00:38 am. Stamford fire boat’s crew removed the victim from the water and began resuscitative efforts.

The victim was transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS.
